Simona completed a master’s degree in General Medicine at the Charles University in the Czech Republic. During this time, she interned at the molecular genetic laboratory at the Childhood Leukaemia Investigation of the University Hospital in Prague, where she worked on a homozygous deletion in the SLC19A1 gene as a cause of folate-dependent recurrent megaloblastic anemia. Simona also interned at the Pediatrics departments of the Ghent Hospital as part of her clinical traineeship during medical studies. Simona then practiced medicine as a resident doctor in the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Department at the largest University Hospital in the Czech Republic where she worked in solid oncology as well as haemato-oncology wards and intensive care unit. Simona is set to join our with a primary field of interest of linking pediatric solid tumors and precision oncology treatments.
