Shaping the future of pediatric medicine

The University Children’s Hospital is an independent institution with a 150-year history of successful pediatric research and an official teaching and research mandate from the University of Zurich. As the largest academic pediatric hospital in Switzerland, we are working tirelessly to translate today’s pediatric research into tomorrow’s standard of care.

Stem cell transplantation

Since its early beginnings in the 1960s, stem cell transplantation has been used to cure a growing number of congenital and malignant diseases. The success of this therapy is based on continuous intensive interdisciplinary research, which includes both basic research and clinical studies. The resulting innovation has also influenced many areas of modern medicine.

In cooperation with national and international research groups, research in the Division of Stem Cell Transplantation at the University Children's Hospital aims to improve the tolerability of preparatory chemotherapy on the one hand and on the other hand to accelerate the development of the immune system after transplantation.
